Dwayne Taff wins $100K in Kayak Bass Fishing Championship
The Kayak Bass Fishing National Championship was held on Kentucky lake this past weekend and Dwayne Taft took home $100,000 for his efforts. His two day 10 fish limit measured 173.50 inches and enabled him to finish in the top spot of some 750 kayak anglers that fished this event.
No credit taken away from these efforts, but lets look at things here. I used to run a few different trails back in the day. Between gas for my truck, (Excursion) and gas for my BassBoat (Ranger 520) it was a small fortune (you can spend a small fortune on a kayak too, just so you know) to just go out and enjoy myself on a given day of bassfishing. Now I am not knocking either side, because in all cases their are two sides to each story and I live both sides here. Big water access requires time and money and man it sure is sweet rollin across that lake or river at 70+ mph, but you sure cant take that puppy to your local shallow river, and in my case that place is 20 minutes away and I am fishing with little to no car and boat traffic. So what does all this mean, I am going for both sides of this story. I’ll hit the big water when I can and rollin in the kayak when time is tight or I just want to get away for a few hours. Either way, I am on the water with the hopes of a tightline. As always, Congrats Mr. Taft on a job well done.
I’m The Bass Dude!!
PS. Last years winner Kurt Smits won $40,500 with his efforts at the 2017 National Championship on Kentucky Lake, oh what a difference a year makes. Congrats Sir!!!
