Been getting kinda personal on some of these last few posts and for good reason. I have been doing a little less writing and a lot more fishing and in this instance a lot more catching. Took the Monarch out on Saturday and we loaded da boat. We started in the early am with some buzzbaits and frogs as they were bustin baitfish up in the shallows, but we had no luck what so ever. We then moved over to some wacky rigged senko and started to put a few in the boat. We would hit a few here and there, but when I am at The Hill, thats our lake and its this time of year, I like to do a lot more catchin than fishin. So, as I mentioned before it was time to set up the Carolina rig (see one of my previous articles on the set-up) and it was game on.
It was my little guys first time fishing on a lake as we normally sport the Monarch out on the rivers and creeks. My story of course comes with the one that got away. We lost the 6lber at the boat, when she took another dive to the bottom right at the boat and my nifty knot wasnt so nifty. We got everything back except for the fish, the hook and the 18 inches of flourocarbon leader, swivel, glass bead and weight were still with us. I guess its time to re-read my own article on knots.
Anyway it was a great day and we cant wait to get back out on the lake and catch some more of those beauties.
Tightlines to you all!!
